SAPICS rated premier supply chain conference

The Professional Body for Supply Chain Management (SAPICS) organised the first SAPICS Conference for 35 delegates in Johannesburg in 1975. Today, the event is the leading education and networking gathering for African supply chain professionals and has earned a commendation from one of the biggest names in the global supply chain community.

“SAPICS is the premier supply chain conference to benchmark,” says world-renowned United States-based supply chain expert Carol Ptak.  A highly-regarded presenter and a smash hit on several SAPICS Conference programmes over the years, Ptak is a partner with the Demand Driven Institute. She has written and co-authored numerous articles and books on Demand Driven principles, finance, and information and planning systems.

“We are honoured to receive this high praise from a supply chain legend like Carol Ptak in the run-up to this year’s 44thannual SAPICS Conference,” comments SAPICS president MJ Schoemaker.

SAPICS 2022 takes place at Century City Conference Centre, Cape Town, from June 12 to 15. The event will be in-person once more this year, following the two previous virtual conferences enforced by the Covid-19 pandemic. “This is a momentous, not-to-be-missed SAPICS Conference,” Schoemaker enthuses.

She notes that as the first face-to-face SAPICS Conference in two years, the event will be a festive celebration, but also offers a vital opportunity for professionals to share lessons learnt during the pandemic and ensure that the industry is prepared for future supply chain disruptions. “Global supply chains and supply chain professionals faced unprecedented challenges during the Covid-19 crisis. The 2022 SAPICS Conference provides a platform for supply chain practitioners from across the industry spectrum to network and collaborate. They will have the opportunity to discuss challenges, identify solutions and inspire innovation, and gain valuable insights on issues like supply chain risk and resilience, as well as best practices and the latest tools and technologies,” says Schoemaker. “It will also enable them to benchmark themselves and their organisations as we enter a post-pandemic world with new threats, as well as new opportunities, perspectives, and priorities.”

She goes on to point out that SAPICS recognises the financial challenges facing many organisations right now. For this reason, the organisation has turned back the clock to offer delegates significant savings, by setting registration fees at the same level as they were in 2018 for the last in-person SAPICS Conference.
