EURO 6 has landed! MAN launches TGX 26-510

Much-anticipated Euro 6 technology has arrived on our shores, with the exciting addition of the TGX 26-510 to MANโ€™s existing local model range.

The MAN TGX 26-510 looks set to hit the tarmac rolling, ushering in a new bar for emission standards in the local transport industry. The new model has been launched in Euro 6D for South Africa, with a view to analysing the performance of the truck in local conditions. โ€œThe main reason we have brought in the TGX 26-510 is not only to enhance our great product portfolio for the local market, but also to test the Euro 6D technology in our long-haul operations,โ€ explains MAN Automotive South Africa (MAN) head of sales and product truck, Philip Kalil-Zackey.ย

The new model will soon be available as a Made-to-Order (MTO) unit, and orders will be brought into the country as Completely Built-Up (CBU) units. Kalil-Zackey notes that because of the inherent customisation of MTO vehicles, product pricing for the TGX 26-510 will be available on request.

โ€œWe will be opening the order book for the TGX 26-510 in the next few weeks,โ€ he says, adding that there will be no limits placed on the number of orders that customers will be able to place.

The TGX 26-510 features the MAN D2676 six-cylinder in-line engine, with a power output of 510 hp (375 kW) at 1ย 800 rpm and a torque of 2ย 600 Nm @ 930 to 1ย 350 rpm. The truck is fitted with the large GM cab, which boasts impressive internal headroom of 1,86 m, while the units will be painted in a sleek, limited edition Nardo Grey.

โ€œAs well as MANโ€™s latest generation additions, the TGX 26-510 units will come with several other in-cab features focused on driver comfort and user-friendliness,โ€ says Kalil-Zackey. โ€œThese include a leather steering wheel, interior trim in chrome, and a passenger seat that can be rotated and folded into a worktable for added driver comfort and convenience.โ€

Philip Kalil-Zackey, head of sales and product truck at MAN Automotive South Africa, expects high resale values for the new TGX 26-510.

On top of these in-cab offerings, the new model also incorporates state-of-the-art assistance and safety systems, as well as the Storage Plus package. โ€œThe Driver Assistance package includes a host of supportive features, like emergency brake signal, electronic parking brake, turning and lane change support (LCS), and electronically-controlled steering that incorporates lane return assist (LRA),โ€ Kalil-Zackey continues.

The TGX 26-510 looks set to take the local market by storm as emissions standards become increasingly stringent, and Kalil-Zackey believes that these trucks will hold great appeal for long-haul operators and other customers in South Africa. โ€œFor starters, this is the International Truck of the Year, so immediately, people know that they will be getting a world-class vehicle,โ€ he says. โ€œWe firmly believe that not only does this product tick all the boxes when it comes to clean technology, but that it will also deliver outstanding fuel efficiency.โ€

The new model not only represents a smart purchase option for long-haul fleet operators to improve their operations in the present, but also a sound investment for the long-term. โ€œWe also believe that โ€“ as the latest technology introduced to the international market by MAN โ€“ the TGX 26-510 units will offer high resale value in the future for South African operators,โ€ says Kalil-Zackey.
