Cascade showcases latest advancements at IFOY Test Days

The International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Test Days are about to begin! They take place from March 24-26 in Dortmund, Germany (sadly, thanks to the pandemic, we cannot be there in person). But we will be joining the event virtually – and there’s going to be some great technology on display.

For instance, Cascade Corporation, the global leader in forklift attachments, forks, accessories and related technologies will display some of its most advanced products during the test days.

As a new partner of the IFOY Award, Cascade’s exhibit will feature smart solutions built for fast, effective materials handling in warehousing, distribution and logistics applications.

During the test days, Cascade will unveil the first of its kind in mobile weighing technology – the three-in-one, compact Weighing Integral. This innovative attachment combines the functionality of a sideshifter, a fork positioner and a mobile weighing carriage into one sleek, patented package. The built-in carriage scales allow operators to weigh loads during transfer, and the smart system allows for essential weight data to be collected from the attachment then communicated to the in-cab display via Bluetooth or to the forklift’s own telematics system. This unique mobile weighing solution has minimal effective thickness by an average of 76 mm (3 inches) when compared to a typical weighing carriage, which maximises net capacity of the forklift while reducing aisle width requirements and improving manoeuvrability for the operator.

The integrated design of this unit keeps internal components protected to help minimise downtime and maintenance needs. Overall, it’s an incredibly effective method for weighing on the go, which is a vital strategy for logistics users looking to optimise product handling times and warehouse efficiency.

From the Cascade Electrix line of all-electric attachments, Cascade will also be showcasing the Electric Sideshifter. Ideal for electric forklifts or AGV applications, Cascade’s Electric Sideshifter is 90% more energy-efficient than a standard hydraulic sideshifter, resulting in extended battery life and reduced downtime. The incredible energy efficiency along with the all-electric actuation, which eliminates the need for hydraulic components, isn’t only environmentally friendly but results in a lower total cost of ownership.

Designed with the latest technology, the Electric Sideshifter also features diagnostic sensors built into its actuators, providing truck telematics systems with fork speed and positioning data, along with parameters that can be used for predictive maintenance. Finally, attendees will have the opportunity to view Cascade Sensor Forks and the next-level visibility and precision they provide. Sensor Forks are perfect for fast-paced e-commerce applications and warehouse environments where ultimate visibility is needed for those hard-to-reach places. These speciality forks feature an embedded digital camera and sensor package, which transmit via WiFi a high-quality video feed and positioning information from the tip of the fork to a wireless, truck-mounted display. No over-the-mast wiring and or reel is required.
