Atlantis Foundries wins prestigious award

Accolade indicates the company’s commitment to quality, consistency and sustainability

Cape-based Atlantis Foundries recently won the prestigious Best Brownfield / Expansion Project Award at the 2019 Investment Conference in Sandton. The award was presented by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Atlantis Foundries employs about 800 people and specialises in the manufacture of engine blocks for trucks. All of the products are exported. “Our quality outperforms that of international competitors and we proudly cast the words Made in South Africa on each item as a sign of our commitment,” says Christoph Ewers, the company’s director.

“We hope to continue to raise the profile and importance of the auto sector. It is a high-volume, low-margin industry that makes an enormous contribution to employment, skills development and know-how transfer,” he added.

Atlantis Foundries received a similar award in 1994 as Atlantis Diesel Engines (ADE). “Our employees and management are proud to be recognised as an important contributor to society over such a long period of time,” added Ewers.

“With the initial award presented in1994 by President Mandela, we believe the latest accolade is an indication of the company’s sustainability and consistency over the past 25 years.”
