Sinotruk shatters records in meteoric rise

On 1 March 2024, the departure ceremony of Sinotruk’s 14,000th exported heavy truck for the month of February was met with great fanfare. The ceremony took place as the truck, along with 50 others, was driven out of customs in the Jinan Zhangjin Comprehensive Bonded Zone, a 5.22-km2 trade and import hub in the city of Jinan, the capital of Shandong province in Eastern China.

A number of dignitaries were there to mark this auspicious occasion, including Liu Wei, customs commissioner of Jinan; Tan Xuguang, chairperson of Shandong Heavy Industry Group (SHIG) and Sinotruk; and Wei Guangyuan, president of China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation – Shandong Branch.

This milestone follows hot on the heels of the 13,000 heavy trucks exported by Sinotruk in January 2024, and Tan noted that alongside profit growth outperforming revenue growth, the company was also continuing with solid quality development.

This continued, significant, and sustained growth in the global heavy truck export market is supported by ongoing capacity building, as the company dedicates itself to refining brand awareness, improving after-sales service, and increasing spare parts supply.

Sinotruk’s overall export business is celebrating its 20th year in 2024 and has grown substantially over the last decade, skyrocketing in the last couple of years: total export numbers ranged between 20,000 and 40,000 units from 2011 to 2020, jumping to 54,050 units in 2021 and then 88,525 units in 2022.

Meanwhile, here in South Africa, Sinotruk has been testing a Sitrak G7 6×4 480-hp truck tractor and a company spokesperson reports that the truck has achieved fuel consumption as low as 2.56km/litre.

As the long-term leader in the Chinese heavy truck export market (it has ranked first for Chinese heavy truck exports in every single year since 2004), Sinotruk places great value on this market segment as part of its overall export strategy. Overseas markets represent the chance to showcase the best commercial vehicles China has to offer the world, and this is one of the core tenets of Sinotruk’s strategic vision.

Sinotruk is responsible for half of China’s entire truck export industry and exports to over 110 countries globally. Its Sitrak and Howo brands are particularly well-known in overseas markets, and are extremely popular in Africa. The manufacturer is already the top global brand on the continent, and it plans to focus on high-end products to increase market share in the future.

Sinotruk International is responsible for the manufacturer’s logistics and service  support and aftermarket management. Quality after-sales service is available outside China in 261 Sinotruk service outlets covering all sales areas and offering timely service. Professional service engineers provide strong technical support to efficiently solve service problems for customers. Tailored service plans are also available to meet each customer’s unique requirements.

With this kind of commitment to the heavy truck and overall export market, you can expect to see more records tumbling in 2024 as Sinotruk continues its meteoric rise in the global heavy truck segment.
