New TruckStore facility promises to keep Africa moving
Platinum, gold, silver or bronze, the new TruckStore facility on the West Rand has an option for every budget: from small and medium-sized enterprises to large corporates, all are welcome. TRACY KLรCKOW toured the impressive premises where trucks and buses are given a second chance to keep the economy moving.
TruckStore, a division of Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA), has opened its new West Rand facility, positioning itself at the heart of Gautengโs growing used-truck hub. Close to key transport corridors, mining regions and industrial centres, TruckStoreโs new location brings the business closer to its customers and the market it serves.
โThis facility strengthens our ability to serve our customers in the areas where they typically shop for used trucks, while reinforcing our long-term confidence in the resilience and potential of the regional trucking market,โ says Maretha Gerber, president and group CEO of DTSA.
FUELLING WHAT COMES NEXT
The West Rand facility expands TruckStoreโs national footprint, complementing the capacity of its head office in Centurion. The fact that the company now has both operations is expected to enhance the brandโs accessibility, flexibility and customer service. โWe are now better positioned than ever to provide certainty, accessibility and trusted solutions in a dynamic market. This investment ensures that TruckStore remains relevant, competitive and ready for future growth,โ affirms Wolf Edmayr, general manager of TruckStore.
Gerber emphasises that this strategic investment is a clear demonstration of DTSAโs commitment to Southern Africa. โWe are invested, we are present and we are here to stay. At DTSA, our purpose is to keep Africa moving by creating real value for our customers, with TruckStore playing a critical role in supporting customers through their re-fleeting cycles. For customers in the used-truck space, TruckStore ensures that vehicles continue to deliver value well beyond their first lifecycle.โ

A TRUSTED TRUCKING PARTNER
TruckStore offers customers the option of four different used truck categories: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The Platinum range comprises trucks with mileages of up to 450,000km, while the Gold range includes vehicles between three and five years old with up to 650,000km on the clock.
The Silver range consists of trucks with mileages up to 800,000km that are no longer covered by the original OEM warranty โ but these still come with a one-year TruckStore warranty for added peace of mind. The warranty safeguards vital parts such as the engine, transmission and driveline components. โThis gives the customer a one-year, hassle-free, unlimited mileage, drivetrain warranty. Thatโs something no other used-truck dealer offers in South Africa,โ reveals Edmayr.
The Bronze category consists of older vehicles with mileages of more than 800,000km. Customers know exactly what they are buying upfront, he notes, adding that there is no overpromising from TruckStore; everything is transparent.
GEARING UP FOR GROWTH
Edmayr says the investment comes at a time when the used-truck market is stabilising following a period of significant fluctuation between 2023 and 2025. โAs demand and supply rebalance, used trucks continue to offer a cost-effective and dependable solution for transport operators,โ he points out.
Originally launched globally in 2001, TruckStore has evolved into Daimler Truckโs trusted used-vehicle division, offering quality, reliability and reassurance to customers worldwide. South Africa became the first market outside of Europe to establish a TruckStore operation in 2012, laying the foundation for a strong national network. Since TruckStore opened locally, it has sold more than 11,000 used trucks to 1,300 individual customers in 18 different countries.
Today, TruckStore continues to play a vital role in supporting businesses across Southern Africa by providing high-quality used trucks that enable logistics operators, entrepreneurs and industries to keep operating successfully and profitably. The opening of the West Rand facility represents more than a physical expansion; it reflects DTSAโs commitment to supporting economic activity and mobility across the region.
โUltimately, our business is about more than trucks โ it is about enabling the people and industries that keep Africa moving,โ Gerber concludes.
