Iveco turns 50

Iveco turns 50

Iveco has officially turned 50 – and it marked the milestone in style. The four-day 50xBeyond celebration, held in mid-June at the iconic OGR Torino complex, brought the brand’s global community together in a striking tribute to half a century of innovation, Italian heritage, and commitment to shaping the future of transport.

Since its founding in 1975, Iveco has been a defining force in Europe’s commercial vehicle (CV) industry, known for durability, forward-thinking design, and Italian flair. This golden jubilee wasn’t just a look back, but also a confident step forward, showcasing an electrified future and reaffirming Iveco’s place on the global stage.

A powerful blend of past, present, and future

Set in Turin – where Iveco’s global headquarters remain – the 50xBeyond event was more than a celebration; it was a fully immersive experience that brought together international customers, dealers, media, institutions, and employees. The converted industrial space of OGR Torino was transformed into a hub of innovation, history, and performance, with talks, exhibitions, and live presentations spanning 50 years of engineering excellence.

“This was a living expression of Iveco’s spirito in movimento,” said Luca Sra, president of the Truck Business Unit at Iveco Group. “We honoured five decades of radical innovation and set the stage for the future. Our next generation of vehicles will be smarter, bolder, and even more human.”

Star-studded speakers and a celebration of talent

Iveco’s leadership used the event to reflect on the company’s journey and outline its vision for the future. Iveco Group CEO Olof Persson opened the celebrations with a message of gratitude and ambition, while a lineup of speakers from the worlds of motorsport, design, and industry brought their own insights to the stage. These included design icon Alberto Alessi and motorsport legend Riccardo Patrese.

A showcase of electric innovation

The event provided a fitting platform for Iveco to unveil its latest advancements in electrified transport. Among the highlights was the global debut of the Iveco S-eWay Artic, a heavy-duty battery-electric truck offering a range of up to 600km. Designed for long-distance and regional operations, the new Artic joins the previously launched S-eWay Rigid in Iveco’s growing zero-emission line-up.

Also unveiled were two electric vans developed through Iveco’s partnership with Stellantis Pro One. The eJolly, a 2.8- to 3.2-t van, and the eSuperJolly, aimed at fleet operators in the 3.5- to 4.2-t segment, extend the brand’s electric light commercial offering. With up to 420km of range and impressive efficiency, these vehicles mark a clear shift in Iveco’s product strategy.

Paying tribute to the past

While the focus was firmly on the future, Iveco did not neglect its rich history. The very first model of the Daily (launched in 1978), the iconic 1980s Turbostar, and a host of rare vehicles were all on display throughout the event.

The celebrations culminated in a city-centre parade, where 16 legendary Iveco vehicles – from the pre-war OM Taurus and Fiat 690 to the modern S-Way Metallica and Ferrari transporters – rolled through Turin, honouring the brand’s deep roots in the region and its connection to the Italian people.

A collector’s edition for a special occasion

In commemoration of the milestone, Iveco also presented the S-Way Limited Edition Anniversario. With just 250 units to be produced, the model features exclusive styling elements including a special 50-year badge, customised interior trim, and celebratory livery. Available in three colour options and based on the Artic 4×2 diesel configuration, the vehicle blends high performance with heritage-inspired design – and is now available to order.

The road ahead

With 50xBeyond, Iveco didn’t just celebrate its legacy – it demonstrated that the brand is firmly focused on what’s next. A renewed commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction was evident in every detail, from vehicle launches to panel discussions and interactive displays.

The company’s multi-energy strategy – which includes bio-methane, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), electric, and hydrogen power – was showcased as part of its commitment to decarbonising the transport industry. Backed by strong partnerships, a global dealer network, and a workforce steeped in expertise, Iveco is poised for the next chapter.

“This milestone has given us momentum,” said Sra. “We’re ready to move forward – powered by our people, inspired by our legacy, and driven by a clear and ambitious vision.”

After 50 years of shaping the road transport landscape, Iveco is accelerating into the future.
