Iveco is at it again: #ThankYouTrucker is back!

In association with the Road Freight Association (RFA), Iveco has launched the 2023 edition of #ThankYouTrucker. It’s a new year, but the mandate remains the same – to find South Africa’s favourite trucker! Could he or she be one of your employees?

#ThankYouTrucker 2022 was a massive success, with many inspiring entries about our country’s dedicated drivers submitted, prompting Iveco to bring back the initiative due to popular demand.

Now in its third year, #ThankYouTrucker is aimed at celebrating the unsung heroes of the road freight industry by highlighting their passion, commitment, and dedication to their work. With the recent opening of entries, Iveco is encouraging freight company owners and fleet managers/operators to give credit where it’s due by nominating deserving truck drivers. This is the perfect opportunity to shine a light on these drivers by sharing their unique stories with the nation. Once the nominations phase has concluded, South Africans will get the chance to vote for their favourite trucker, putting their nominee in line to win a life-changing cash prize!

At its core, this initiative seeks to celebrate phenomenal truck drivers and let them know that their efforts do not go unnoticed. Given the challenging conditions that truck drivers must endure at times to ensure goods reach their destinations safely, Iveco believes that some acknowledgment goes a long way in keeping them motivated.

“One of the many hats worn by truck drivers every day is that of chief ambassador for their employers. Drivers are key players in supply chains and transport businesses. #ThankYouTrucker is an opportunity for employers of exceptional drivers to acknowledge their contributions, and together we can say, ‘ThankYouTrucker’,” says Elvis Mutseura, product marketing manager at Iveco SA.

These drivers often go above and beyond the call of duty, sacrificing their time and energy to ensure the job gets done to the best of their abilities. These caring, trustworthy, dependable individuals are passionate about their work and are always willing to lend a helping hand. They also motivate their colleagues to be and do their best.

The 2022 winners were:

1st: David Mashiane, who claimed the grand prize of R50 000

2nd: Luticia Smith, who won R10 000

3rd: Jeffrey Maja, who won R5 000
