Get a new DAF for under R50K: Yes, you can!

In response to the growing demand for rental and rent-to-own options, Babcock has launched a new programme in South Africa, offering customers the opportunity to operate a brand-new DAF truck with lower monthly instalments compared to buying outright.

Mark Gavin, sales director for Babcock’s Transport Solutions division, highlights that this new service is aimed at customers in various industries, including logistics, construction, and mining, all of whom need reliable, fuel-efficient transportation.

“In today’s economic environment, operators are looking for ways to reduce their monthly overheads without compromising productivity,” says Gavin. “Our rental programme allows qualifying customers to access a new, fuel-efficient DAF 6×4 truck tractor for as little as R48,127* per month, with no upfront deposit required in some cases.”

At the end of the contract – typically ranging from 36 to 60 months – operators have several flexible options: they can continue using the truck for another year, upgrade to a newer model, or return the truck with a guaranteed buyback, removing the hassle of reselling.

For those considering eventual ownership, there is also an operating lease option available at the end of the rental term. The application process for the rental is streamlined, and some models are available for immediate delivery once financial approval is granted.

Customised contracts

To ensure the truck’s performance throughout its lifespan, each rental agreement includes a mandatory Service, Maintenance, and Repair (SMR) contract, provided at an additional cost. These contracts can be tailored to meet specific business needs. Babcock offers two types of R&M contracts – Deluxe and Advantage – which cover scheduled services at Babcock-approved service centres.

Additional services such as national breakdown assistance, recovery, and coverage for key components – including the chassis, axles, engine, gearbox, cab, braking system, electrical components, and batteries – can also be included.

DAF XF range: tried, tested, trusted

DAF’s commitment to efficiency and innovation shines through in its latest truck range, which continues to set industry standards for driver comfort and safety. The DAF XF series offers excellent fuel efficiency, thanks to the multi-torque Paccar MX-13 engine, which provides greater torque at lower r/min. The trucks also lead in driver safety and comfort, boasting the largest interior space on the market and advanced safety technologies such as emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure systems.

DAF customers partnering with Babcock gain access to a network of personalised support, with the company committed to minimising downtime through fast service turnaround and guaranteed parts availability. “Our extensive service infrastructure ensures operators can stay on the road with confidence,” concludes Gavin.

*Monthly instalments vary based on contract duration, operating conditions, expected mileage, and financial approval.
