From four to two: VW Amarok Rolls out a leaner Life edition

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has introduced a new variant to its Amarok range: the Amarok Life 2.0 TDI 125kW 4ร—2, offering a practical and more accessible option for customers seeking a capable bakkie without four-wheel drive.

The new derivative features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 125kW of power and 405Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. This rear-wheel drive variant reaches a top speed of 180km/h and offers a combined fuel consumption of 6.9 litres/100km.

Designed with both work and everyday practicality in mind, the Amarok Life 4ร—2 comes fitted with 17-inch Combra alloy wheels, a power tailgate lock, and a trailer hitch as standard. Park Distance Control is available at both the front and rear, supplemented by a fixed rear-view camera, improving manoeuvrability and visibility in tight spaces.

The cabin features durable fabric seat upholstery, six cargo tie-down hooks in the load box, and integrated cargo lighting โ€“ highlighting its dual-purpose nature as a lifestyle and utility vehicle.

Inside, drivers benefit from an eight-inch multifunction display, Bluetooth connectivity, and App-Connect (supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto). A leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, cruise control with speed limiter, and six speakers round out the comfort and convenience offering.

On the safety front, the Amarok Life comes equipped with LED headlights, Daytime Running Lights, and driver and front passenger airbags as standard.

The Amarok 2.0 TDI 125kW 4ร—2 Life is priced at R704,700 (including VAT and emissions tax) and is backed by Volkswagenโ€™s five-year/150,000-km warranty and five-year/100,000-km Genuine Easy Drive maintenance plan.
