eActros hits the road
Series production of the new eActros started on October 7, and four near-series battery-powered eActros trucks have already hit the road.
The trucks are being used by Logistik Schmitt, based in the northern Black Forest in Germany; Simon Loos in the Netherlands; Tevex Logistics in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany; and at Remondis, a German company that specialises in recycling, water management, municipal and industrial services.
Logistik Schmitt’s eActros truck operates between Rastatt and Gaggenau in a three-shift operation, covering 300 km a day. It transports gear housings on its trips to Rastatt, while it carries axle components to Gaggenau.
Simon Loos is using an eActros equipped with a refrigerated box for deliveries to the Albert Heijn supermarket chain. The daily routine for the eActros starts at Albert Heijn’s regional distribution centre in Delfgauw in the province of South Holland. From there, the e-truck supplies supermarket stores in various cities in the region, including Rotterdam, The Hague and Delft. This eActros will run seven days a week, covering up to 300 km every day.
Tevex Logistics in Rheda-Wiedenbrück plans to use the new eActros in a multi-shift operation. The logistics subsidiary of the Tönnies Group will transport its food products to various customers in the greater local area each day. The company expects the truck to travel up to 600 km a day.
The fourth eActros will be used by Remondis as a refuse collection vehicle. The waste disposal company plans to use it in the inner-city area of Cologne for waste disposal.
