Clark launches new Crossover electric forklift series
Clark has unveiled its new Crossover series, combining the strengths of electric and combustion engine-powered forklift trucks.
The new models combine the environmental benefits of electric drive systems with the robustness and versatility traditionally associated with diesel and LPG forklifts. In doing so, Clark aims to set new standards in material handling, particularly for intensive indoor and outdoor applications. For the first time in a while, Clark has also introduced distinct product names for its forklifts. The L25-35XE range is now known as the “Raider” and the S25-35XE range is referred to as the “Renegade”.
Versatile solution for a range of applications
The Raider (L25-35XE) and Renegade (S25-35XE) series offer load capacities from 2.5 to 3.5 tonnes and represent a key step in Clark’s strategy to electrify its counterbalance truck portfolio. The goal is to create electric forklifts capable of fully replacing internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles across a wide variety of operating environments.
Built on the tried-and-tested chassis of Clark’s ICE models, the new electric forklifts benefit from features usually reserved for diesel and LPG trucks. These include high ground clearance, large and durable tyres, and generous legroom for the operator. This design makes the Raider and Renegade particularly well-suited for outdoor use, even on rough or uneven terrain.
Performance is a critical focus: the new crossover models offer comparable drive speeds, working aisle widths, turning radii, and gradeability to their ICE counterparts. Water-protected components, such as drive and hydraulic motors rated to IP54 (dust and splash-proof), allow for reliable operation in damp environments and adverse weather conditions.
The series is powered by advanced, emission-free lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries based on lithium iron phosphate (Li-FePO4) technology. These batteries deliver long operating hours and short charging times. Different battery capacities and chargers, including onboard chargers, are available to meet varying operational requirements. This flexibility enables quick recharging both indoors and outdoors, enhancing operational efficiency.
Clark Raider: Robust solution for everyday operations
The Raider series offers a solid, environmentally conscious alternative to ICE forklifts. Its design prioritises operator comfort and safety, with excellent all-round visibility, predictable handling, and an ergonomic seating area that provides substantial foot space. These features help ensure that drivers can work comfortably even during extended shifts.
Thanks to its electric drive system, the Raider offers strong acceleration and optimum power delivery, with maximum torque available immediately and a top speed of 19km/h. The electric motor’s smooth performance, combined with excellent visibility and intuitive controls, ensures a safe and efficient operating experience.
The operator’s seat is fully suspended, helping to reduce the impact of shocks and vibrations on uneven surfaces. Safety features include a ramp function to prevent rollback on inclines and ramps. Additionally, the Raider is equipped with the Operator Presence System (OPS), which disables the hydraulic and drive functions if the operator leaves the seat, ensuring that the forklift can only move when the driver is seated and attentive.
A modern 4.3-inch LCD colour display provides key information such as battery status, operating hours, and error codes. The Raider also offers three driving modes – High (H), Standard (S), and Eco (E) – allowing operators to adjust driving performance according to the task at hand.
Optional features include various seat choices, blue LED warning lights for reversing, hydraulic functions for additional attachments, and fork positioners with side shift capability.
Clark Renegade: Built for demanding operations
The Renegade series takes performance and customisation a step further. Designed for operators who value the benefits of Clark’s S-Series – smart, strong, and safe – the Renegade is built on the robust chassis of the S-Series ICE models and offers a comprehensive range of safety and comfort features.
Combining advanced Li-ion technology with a strong and ergonomic vehicle frame, the Renegade is particularly suited for environments where both outdoor durability and quiet indoor operation are required. Its sound pressure level is less than 65 dB(A) at the operator’s ear, making it an ideal choice for workplaces that prioritise low-noise operations.
Among the Renegade’s many safety features is a full ramp stop function, which automatically engages the parking brake to prevent rollback on slopes. The ergonomic driver’s area offers a slim steering column for increased legroom, a conveniently positioned step for safe entry and exit, and intuitive hydraulic controls located next to the seat.
Visibility is another strength, with excellent sightlines for safe manoeuvring in tight spaces. All important driving parameters are clearly displayed on the Smart Display, a five-inch colour screen that shows a live feed from the optional reversing camera in addition to the usual easy-to-read information. The display can be configured to display a load weight indicator, enhancing both safety and efficiency. Driving behaviour, including acceleration and braking characteristics, can be adjusted to suit the operator’s preferences through the Smart Display interface.
Options for the Renegade series include different cab configurations (ranging from simple rain protection to full cabins), mini-levers integrated into the armrest, mechanical levers, blue LED reversing warning lights, reversing cameras, USB charging ports, load weight displays, and the Clark Vehicle Management System (VMS).
Commitment to innovation and sustainability
With the introduction of the Raider and Renegade, Clark is reinforcing its commitment to providing forward-looking, environmentally friendly, and robust solutions that meet the evolving needs of the logistics and warehousing sectors.
“We are proud to introduce the Raider and Renegade crossover electric forklifts. These models combine efficiency, environmental responsibility, and reliability, offering businesses a sustainable solution to meet today’s demanding material handling challenges,” says Thomas Bach, director R&D at Clark Europe.
