Stamford Tyres carries Prometeon Pirelli torch

In 2019, FOCUS editorial director Charleen Clarke travelled to Milan to get to know more about the Prometeon Tyre Group, which was officially established in 2017 as a spin-off from the industrial division of Pirelli Tyre. This thriving global enterprise left a lasting impression on her, and its South African distributor, Stamford Tyres, aims to do the same.

One of the fashion capitals of the world, Milan was absolutely stunning – a splendid backdrop for my time with the seriously impressive Prometeon team. The company employs 8,000 people globally and – as the world’s only purely industrial tyre company – is a true specialist. Internationally, Prometeon Pirelli has four production plants (two in Brazil, one in Egypt, and one in Turkey), as well as Research and Development Centres in Italy, Brazil, and Turkey and a Development Centre in Egypt. 

Now Prometeon Pirelli has extended its reach into South Africa – appointing Stamford Tyres as its sole distributor. The latest breakthrough is really exciting: Serie R02 and Nextroad (developed specifically for Africa) – a brand new family of cutting-edge tyres, designed to perfectly balance durability and sustainability, efficiency, and performance,” reveals Romero. “We are currently running back-to-back tests within a number of well-maintained fleets, and we are looking to provide more feedback to the local market as the results become available.”
