VW introduces baby Caddy
The Volkswagen (VW) Caddy has the second-highest sales numbers in the VW Commercial Vehicles range, and the company has now widened its appeal with the new 1.0 TSI model.
The 1.0 TSI Trendline joins the Caddy range, which consists of the 2.0 TDI Trendline, the seven-seater Caddy Maxi and Caddy Alltrack models.
Mark Handley, head of sales and marketing at VW Commercial Vehicles, comments: “Our aim is to increase the market share and positioning of the Caddy Trendline range. At R306 300, the 1.0 TSI Trendline Caddy offers exceptional value.”
With just a 75 kW three-cylinder engine, it’s frugal, too – consuming a claimed 5,6 l/100 km. It sends its 175 Nm of torque to the front wheels through a five-speed gearbox.
As a Trendline model, the Caddy 1.0 TSI adds standard features such as 16-inch Bendigo alloy wheels, a heated rear window, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, electric windows, roof rails in black, front fog lights with static cornering light and daytime running lights.
It also features a Composition Media radio with touchscreen, a leather steering wheel, height-adjustable front seats, climatic air-conditioning, multi-function display and under-seat storage.
The Trendline can be customised with optional features such as front and rear park-distance control with rear-view camera, cruise control, a removable tow bar, bi-Xenon headlamps with separate LED daytime running lights and blacked-out tail lights including a Light and Sight Package, multi-function leather steering wheel and rear wing doors.
The new Caddy 1.0 TSI Trendline retails for R306 300 and comes standard with a three-year/60 000-km AutoMotion service plan, three-year/120 000-km warranty and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.
