Suzuki Auto South Africa reflects on a landmark year of growth and wins

From record-breaking sales and industry accolades to motorsport spectacle, sporting success and owner-led celebrations, 2025 stands out as a defining year for Suzuki Auto South Africa.

Across the country, the brand strengthened its market position while deepening its connection with customers, partners and communities. These six highlights capture the moments that shaped Suzukiโ€™s year, both on and off the road.

Sales momentum accelerates

Suzukiโ€™s standout achievement in 2025 was its exceptional sales performance. Building on 59,574 passenger and light commercial vehicles sold in 2024, the brand increased this figure to 71,560 units in 2025 โ€“ a year-on-year growth of 20%. This performance translated into a 12.03% share of the South African vehicle market. Consistent demand for models such as the fourth-generation Swift, Fronx, Ertiga, Baleno and Jimny underpinned this success. October proved a milestone month, with 6,890 vehicles sold โ€“ Suzukiโ€™s highest monthly total to date โ€“ reinforcing its position as the countryโ€™s second-best-selling vehicle manufacturer.

High-impact engagement at the Festival of Motoring

At the 2025 Festival of Motoring, Suzuki placed its vehicles in the hands of consumers under real-world conditions. Over three days, the brandโ€™s vehicles covered more than 7,100 km across track driving, self-drive routes and off-road challenges. The Jimny 4×4 fleet alone completed 455 laps of the off-road course. Strong public engagement matched the on-track activity, with over 6,000 giveaway items distributed and 142 staff members supporting the activation. In total, 1,342 litres of fuel were consumed, reflecting the scale and intensity of the experience.

Sporting partnerships deliver memorable victories

Suzukiโ€™s long-standing belief in the power of sport to unite communities was rewarded in 2025 through a series of notable achievements. Aligned with organisations such as Cricket South Africa, the Griqualand West Rugby Union and Orlando Pirates Football Club, the brand shared in several historic moments. The Proteas Womenโ€™s ODI team reached the final of the ICC Womenโ€™s Cricket World Cup, the Griquas lifted the Currie Cup for the first time in 55 years, and Orlando Pirates secured their fourth consecutive MTN 8 title. Suzuki also announced a new three-year partnership with the Betway SA20 T20 cricket league as a Proud Vehicle Partner.

Another memorable Simola Hillclimb

Suzuki continued its strong motorsport presence by supporting the Simola Hillclimb for the fifth consecutive year as a Tier One OEM sponsor. One of South Africaโ€™s most celebrated motorsport events, the hillclimb once again provided a platform to showcase Suzukiโ€™s passenger vehicle range. The Jimny, fourth-generation Swift and Swift Sport were all driven competitively up the demanding 1.9 km course by selected motoring journalists. The event also saw demonstrations of Suzukiโ€™s GSX-R8 sportbikes and the unveiling of the new GSX-8R Cup race series.

Swift secures top honours

Awards recognition added further momentum to Suzukiโ€™s year. At the 2025 Cars.co.za Consumer Awards, the fourth-generation Swift claimed overall victory in the Best Budget Car category โ€“ the seventh time Suzuki has won this title and the fifth time the Swift itself has taken top honours. The model went on to repeat its success at the 2025 South African Car of the Year competition, where it was named the overall Budget Category Winner.

Jimny Gathering delivers community and a world record

Suzukiโ€™s connection with its owner community was on full display at the second biannual Jimny Gathering, held from 25 to 28 September at Louvain Guest Farm in the Western Cape. More than 1,000 Jimny owners and enthusiasts came together for four days of off-road driving, lifestyle activities and live entertainment. Participants explored curated 4×4 routes in the Outeniqua Mountains, while the programme also included live music, a dedicated festival in Oudtshoorn known as Suzuki Safari Town, and the inaugural Jimny Gathering Pageant. The event concluded with the setting of a new Guinness World Record, as 1,127 vehicles simultaneously closed 1,838 doors โ€“ a fitting symbol of the strong sense of community around the Jimny name.

Reflecting on the year, Brendon Carpenter, brand marketing manager at Suzuki Auto South Africa, said 2025 was a year the company could look back on with genuine pride. He noted that the milestones achieved were the result of collective effort, highlighting the commitment of dealers, partners and internal teams, as well as the loyalty of South African customers. Looking ahead to 2026, Suzuki aims to build on this momentum, continuing to grow the brand in a way that remains authentic, sustainable and closely connected to its audience.
