New transport show launched
Mega-T, an exciting new outdoor expo, is the one-stop industry event that’s all about Trailers, Trucks, and Transport and any related topics. Being held for the first time from October 6 to 7 this year at the Diamantvallei Landgoed showgrounds (20 km east of Pretoria) the event is hosted by the organisers of KragDag and powered by the Road Freight Association (RFA).
Taking place during Transport Month, the Mega-T expo will serve as a platform for the local and national transport community to network, display new and innovative technologies, connect with suppliers and service providers, and exchange business ideas. Some of the many categories on show include trucks and trailers, tracking and security, parts and maintenance, financing and insurance, navigation and fleet management, components, branding and media, tyres, and refuelling systems.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for businesses in the industry to showcase products and services and meet their niche markets in an open, relaxed, outdoor setting. It is also the ideal platform to reconnect with existing clients and meet potential new clients. After the restrictions Covid placed on us over the past two years, the industry is hungry for an event where they can interact face-to-face, do business and enjoy the outdoors. Mega-T does just that!” says event organiser HP Steyn of KragDag.
Steyn adds that the response to the new show from the industry has been extremely positive. Stands are selling fast, with a number of OEMs and leading suppliers in trailers, trucking, and transport already signing up.
The showgrounds are extensive – an impressive six hectares – with ample space for product demonstrations, presentations, competitions, and events. Mega-T aims to create a memorable experience for visitors to engage with and explore. The two-day outdoor event features exhibitors, education, entertainment, and networking.
Fun for everyone
The Mega-T expo will be a fun-fuelled trucking show for the whole family, with activities for both young and old. Some impressive and flashy American big rigs will be on display, courtesy of Impala Trucks, while the South African Strongman Union’s top five junior and senior athletes will demonstrate their raw strength by pulling trucks and lifting heavy objects. A tyre flipping competition is also scheduled.
For those wanting to learn more, there will be an opportunity to attend a short lesson on how to drive a truck.
RFA on board
“The RFA is proud to be a partner in the Mega-T expo,” asserts RFA CEO Gavin Kelly. “We will be taking this opportunity to showcase some of the important work the Association has been doing over the past few years, as well as sharing information on some of the key projects we are working on. Mega-T is also a fantastic event for us to highlight the critical role that trucking plays in keeping the wheels of our economy turning. Many people don’t realise the important role that trucks play in bringing us all the things we need in our daily lives. ‘If you have it, a truck brought it!’”
Kelly continues that the team aims to grow the show substantially over the coming years to become the premier event in the country for trailers, trucking, and transport.
Sponsors of this year’s event include the RFA, PRBB (beer garden sponsor), Ever Star Industries (expo bag sponsor), Knorr-Bremse (Strongman sponsor), and BBD Women in Steel.
