Technical training and skills get a turbodiesel boost

I recently had a one-on-one with Thierry Pimi, MD of Cummins Southern Africa – a man who is passionate about growing his company, boosting the continent and empowering its youth. Cummins is on a really good wicket at the moment. Last year the company met and exceeded its annual plan, while achieving UD$ 20 billion in revenue worldwide. In southern Africa the team had an equally impressive year – but it is what is planned for the future that is […]

Confusion around Aarto and e-tolls…

The relationship between the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (Aarto) Act and e-tolls has been highlighted in the media recently and, according to Justice Project South Africa (JPSA), is misleading and needs to be clarified. “While it is true to say that under the current Aarto Regulations, drivers of operator-class motor vehicles could have their driving licences suspended for failing to pay e-tolls (that is, if the points-demerit system was in force now) this is not true with respect […]

Triton Athlete out of the starting blocks

Mitsubishi Motors has lunched a new, special edition version of its accomplished Triton double-cab bakkie: the Athlete. Based on the 4×4 automatic derivative, this upgrade is not purely skin deep, as the Athlete boasts several important enhancements. However, if it was, that would not be a bad thing… Among the many design enhancements the Athlete features a sporty body kit with bold orange and black highlights (the orange is carried over into the leather-upholstered interior, too) and new black powder-coated, […]

Cross-border e-commerce the one to watch

According to a 2017 DHL report, cross-border retail volumes are predicted to increase at an annual average rate of 25 percent between 2015 and 2020 – from US$ 300 to 900 billion. That’s at twice the pace of domestic growth in e-commerce. Burd points to five common areas that he […]
