New toys for South African bakkie fansFord and Isuzu are offering South African bakkie lovers a new toys to play with...

Isuzu KB X-Rider is here to stay
After touching a chord with South African bakkie fans, the limited-edition Isuzu X-Rider has now become a permanent fixture in the Isuzu line-up as the KB X-Rider.

South African consumers can now choose from 19 KB derivatives in three body types, with the newest addition to the range officially badged as the KB250 X-Rider 4x2 Double Cab.

The most obvious visual cues are stylish diamond-cut, 18-inch alloys with their red "Isuzu" centre caps, the black bumper guard with integrated fog lamps, tubular side steps/sports bar combo in black with X-Rider decals, and the blacked-out B-pillars. The wheels are shod with low-profile 255/50 Grabber AT all-terrain rubber.

There's a heavy-duty tow bar as standard, giving the X-Rider a 2,1-t braked trailer towing capacity. Peak torque kicks in at just 1 800 r/min.

Remote keyless entry, satellite controls on the steering wheel, air-conditioning and projector headlights with daytime running lights all contribute to car-like levels of comfort, convenience and safety.

Ford Ranger gets updated SYNC3
Ford's latest-generation SYNC3 with Navigation infotainment system makes its debut in the Ranger XLT and Wildtrak bakkies, and in the related Everest XLT and Limited SUVs. This incorporates all the benefits of the innovative SYNC3 system introduced last year, with the addition of a comprehensive suite of integrated navigation functions accessible via the eight-inch touch screen and a wide range of voice commands.

Off-road capability has been enhanced with the factory-fitted rear differential lock on all Ranger XL, XLS, XLT and Wildtrak derivatives. The electronically operated diff-lock ensures rear-wheel traction is maximised when tackling uneven terrain.

All SYNC3 with Navigation systems sold in South Africa have access to more than 20 African country maps. All models equipped with SYNC3 with Navigation in South Africa receive free annual map updates for five years.

Additionally, text and voice guidance are available in a multitude of languages, such as Afrikaans, Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Zulu.
